Community Outreach
SMPS Fort Worth’s unique vision includes a commitment to community outreach, both philanthropic and educational. When you become a member, you’re not only joining a community of like-minded professionals – you’re also helping to support worthy charities and reaching out to our local universities.
As part of its Community Outreach effort, the SMPS Fort Worth chapter is tapping into the higher education community. In addition to offering special student rates to programs and education events, one component is the “adopt a student program” in which firms can contribute a $200 annual sponsorship fee to “adopt” a student. The fee enables the student to become a “student member” and covers SMPS Fort Worth event registration for the year. Other features of the “adoption” may include time with the sponsoring organization such as a quarterly mentoring lunch, and a day of shadowing someone within the sponsoring firm. Students may be in the marketing/communication tract, or the engineering/architectural/landscape architecture tract. This effort is being driven by SMPS Fort Worth’s Special Committee on Community Outreach led by Susie Peden, Chief Marketing Officer of Dunaway Associates. For more information on Adopting a Student or becoming an Adoptee, contact speden@dunaway-assoc.com.
