Program Recap

June 23, 2016

When asked how he played so well, Wayne Gretzky, hockey superstar replied by saying “I go where the puck is going to be.” Mr. McCraken got everyone’s attention with this opening statement. He encouraged marketers and owners alike not to ‘follow the money’ but instead to ‘go where the money is going to be’.

To achieve this, Mr. McCraken encourages everyone to join a professional organization such as ULI (Urban Land Institute) or your local SMPS Chapter. He stressed the importance of client relations and correctly using your marketing resources. In his professional opinion, if a company is spending more than 9% on marketing, they are spending too much. If a company is spending less that 4% they’re spending too little.

Mr. McCraken claims because of our political stability, monetary banking, and reliable legal system, the United States is the safest in the world for Real Estate Investment. But because the Unites States has additional taxes on international investors, foreign cities such as London, Paris, and Munich are gaining the investments lost in the Unites States. Taxes aside, the Unites States remains the most desirable place for real estate investment in the world.

Here are a few highlights from Mr. McCraken’s lecture and a few tips on ‘going where the puck is going to be:

  • Dallas Fort Worth ranks 2nd in the Nation for office building construction.
  • Hospitality and Warehousing are also a hot commodity that will continue to grow in our area.
  • The price of oil is projected to stabilize at $40 to $50 a barrel.
  • Dallas Fort Worth’s Aviation sector has seen 145% terminal construction increase in 2016.
  • Residential building is projected to grow by 13% for single family housing within the next year as well as condominiums and rental facilities.
  • Home buyers should not expect interest rates to increase for another 3 to 4 years.

Mr. McCracken concluded by saying Texas is the most stable economy in the Nation and is projected to experience continued growth for the next 20 years. Thanks again to Mr. Laurin McCraken for sharing his expertise.
