Letter from the President

Seven years ago the Fort Worth chapter of SMPS was started by a strong group of industry leaders. They understood the need for Fort Worth to be its own chapter because Fort Worth has a style all our own. The chapter boards that followed have continued to embrace our Fort Worth style, from our branding message to our event locations. What better way to have celebrated this unique flair then with our inaugural event held in August?

I am so pleased Steer Style Bingo (SSB) was such a fantastic success! More than 80 professionals and community leaders attended this one-of-a-kind event, benefiting the Fort Worth Herd and Make-A-Wish North Texas. The event’s profits exceeded $5,000 which is remarkable for a first-time event!

When SSB was announced, some of you may have thought "the SMPS Fort Board has lost their minds!" Maybe you didn't understand what a Steer Style Bing event was, or what it would be like. The planning committee also found it challenging to promote such a unique, first-of-its-kind event without any photos or video to aid in their promotional campaign. With one successful event under our belt, we have lots of media to share with you.

I encourage you to please take two minutes and check out the recap, watch some of the videos and really soak up the Fort Worth style fun that was had that night.

Ending the year with SSB really set the bar high for the new board starting September 1 but we are all very excited to rise to the occasion. This year's board will continue to work through the three-year strategic plan that was rolled out in 2014-2015. This year we'll be working towards membership growth of 15%, forming guidelines for future scholarships to Build Business and SRC, and continuing our goal of an increased social media presence, just to name a few.

In closing, remember that Fort Worth has a style all its own, and our inclusive association reflects that in the education, resources and networking opportunities we provide the professional services industry. Come out to an event this year and see it first hand or get plugged into a committee to help us make sure SMPS Fort Worth thrives this year, and for years to come. I look forward to seeing each of you throughout this coming year!
