How did you get started in the A/E/C industry? Fell into it by accident. My background was Corporate Librarian – got hired to handle the Carter & Burgess photo library. The rest is history!
How long have you been a member of SMPS? What do you enjoy most about it? 11 years – joined when the Fort Worth Chapter started. Collaboration among marketers is what I enjoy most about SMPS.
What are your career goals? Take the CPSM exam in early 2020 and become certified.
Tell me about your new position at MLA. Director of Business Development – I wear both hats – Marketing and Business Development. Marshall Lancaster & Associates, Inc. (MLAI) is a Professional Land Survey firm located in Hurst, Texas. We are also a registered WBE and HUB firm.
What is the most valuable skill you learned early in your career? Networking! I think my network is one of my most valuable assets. Be open to meeting all kinds of new people – you never know who might be a great resource, even if you don’t think so at first.
What are you currently reading? Cracking the Leadership Code: Three Secrets to Building Strong Leaders by Alain Hunkins.
What’s your favorite restaurant in Fort Worth? It was the Bird Café ☹ I am very sad that it had to close.
What’s on your bucket list? Traveling to Kentucky to visit Lane’s End and other famous Thoroughbred breeding farms.
What can you not live without? Coffee
What’s your favorite weekend activity? Events at the Historic Granbury Square (during non-pandemic times).
